Renewed NordVal certificates for Listeria, Staphylococci and Salmonella methods
The NordVal International certificate for ‘RAPID’L.mono’ from Bio-Rad Laboratories was renewed 01 May 2022. The method is applicable for the detection and enumeration of Listeria monocytogenes and for the detection of other Listeria species in a broad range of food and environmental samples.
The NordVal International certificate for ‘RAPID’Staph’ from Bio-Rad Laboratories was renewed 01 May 2022. The method is applicable for enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci
(Staphylococcus aureus and other species) in a broad range of foods.
The NordVal International certificate for ‘BAX® System PCR Assay for Salmonella (Classic + Q7 instruments)’ from Thermo Fisher Scientific (OXOID Limited) was renewed 01 May 2022. The method is applicable for the detection of Salmonella spp. in a broad range of foods, animal feed and environmental samples.

New NordVal International Certificate 038 for Salmonella detection
NordVal International Certificate issued to Bio-Rad for 038 “iQ-Check Salmonella II kit” was extended and updated (Jan 2022). A completely new method comparison study was carried out on food, feed, production environmental samples and on primary production samples. The method was extended to be certified for analysing raw meats, raw dairy products and infant formula and infant cereals with or without probiotics including ingredients. The extension also included the use of the iQ-Check Free DNA Removal Solution for the Infant Formula matrix category. For all matrices, a shorter PCR (from 110 minutes down to 72 minutes) with the “Salmo Fast” APF (Assay Protocol File) was validated.
NordVal certificate 054 for Listeria detection updated to include LOD50
NordVal International Certificate issued to BIOTECON Diagnostics GmbH for for 054 “foodproof® Listeria plus L. monocytogenes Detection LyoKit – 5’Nuclease” was updated Jan 2022 to include LOD50 for different matrices.
NordVal International Protocol No. 1
The NordVal International Protocol No. 1 has been updated Jan 2022. The requirement of using Kappa, a statistical entity for testing the agreement between two qualitative methods, has been removed. The calculations for the sensitivity have been clarified. Improvements on layout and graphics have been made.
New NordVal International Certificate Dec 2021
A new NordVal International Certificate issued to BIOTECON Diagnostics GmbH for 055 “foodproof® Salmonella Genus plus Enteritidis and Typhimurium Detection LyoKit” has been published.
The foodproof® Salmonella Genus plus Enteritidis and Typhimurium Detection LyoKit is a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) based assay that targets DNA specific to Salmonella spp. and two specific serotypes – Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium. The method is applicable for the detection of Salmonella spp., Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium in raw and ready to cook meat and poultry products and environmental samples.
The certificate was updated Jan 2022 to include LOD50 for different matrices and a correction about selectivity.
New NordVal International Certificates Dec 2021
NordVal International Certificate 033 issued issued to Nissui Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd for CompactDry TC has been renewed. The method is a ready-to-use dry chromogenic plate for enumeration of total count. The method has been tested on enumeration of total viable organisms in a broad range of foods, pet food and primary production samples.

NordVal International Certificate 039 issued to Qualicon Diagnostics for BAX® System Real-Time PCR Assay Campylobacter jejuni/coli/lari has been renewed. The method is a direct method without enrichment step and with ready to use tubes for the BAX instrument. The method is applicable for detection of Campylobacter jejuni, coli and lari in poultry faeces on cloacae swabs.

NordVal International Certificate 020 issued to Bio-Rad for RAPID’E.coli 2 Agar has been renewed. The method describes ready-to-use selective and chromogenic plates, which inhibits growth of Gram-positive bacteria and of the principal Gram-negative bacteria other than Enterobacteriacae. The method is applicable for detection of E. coli in a broad range of foods.
