The NordVal 041 certificate for Salmonella detection method by real-time PCR has been discontinued. The certification was withdrawn 31.12.2022.
Four renewed NordVal Certificates for Microbiology Methods
The NordVal international certificates for the following microbiology methods were renewed and are valid until 1 December 2024:
- NordVal 032 RAPID’Salmonella method, short protocol, RAPID’Salmonella method, double enrichment protocol
- NordVal 034 Compact Dry ETB, for the enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae in a broad range of foods
- NordVal 035 Compact Dry CF, for the enumeration of total coliforms in a broad range of foods
- NordVal 036 Compact Dry EC, for enumeration of E. coli and coliforms in a broad range of foods

Salmonella detection – new NordVal certified method
Microbiologique Salmonella IEH Test Kit issued by Microbiologique was certified by NordVal International 17.10.22: NordVal 056.The method is applicable for the detection of Salmonella spp. in raw milk and dairy products, raw and ready to eat meat products, eggs and egg products, fish and seafood, multicomponent foods, and environmental samples. The method includes cultural enrichment followed by PCR assay(s).
NMKL is now Nordic-Baltic Committee on Food Analysis
Food experts from the Baltic countries Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania joined NMKL, and were formally incorporated 29 Aug 2022 at the Annual Meeting. The NMKL Board decided to change the full name to “Nordic-Baltic Committee on Food Analysis” and include the Baltic countries national flags in the logo. Our mandate will expand to include common challenges with methods of analysis for feed and foodstuffs in the two regions. The secretariat will start updating the website with the new name and logo. Future publications will have our new name, but the name change will not affect any work done by NMKL before the date of incorporation.
Listeria monocytogenes method certificate NordVal 037 renewed
The NordVal certificate 037 for “iQ-Check® Listeria monocytogenes II” issued by Bio-Rad Laboratories was renewed from 01 Oct 2022 until 2024. The method describes detecting Listeria monocytogenes using one of five sample preparation protocols followed by real-time PCR using florescent probes.
NordVal certificate ‘050 Compact Dry YM RAPID’ for enumeration of viable yeasts and moulds renewed
The NordVal 050 certificate for the Nissui Pharmaceutical Co.Ltd method ‘Compact Dry YM RAPID’ for enumeration of viable yeasts and moulds in a broad range of foods was renewed until 15 june 2024.
Renewed NordVal certificates for Listeria, Staphylococci and Salmonella methods
The NordVal International certificate for ‘RAPID’L.mono’ from Bio-Rad Laboratories was renewed 01 May 2022. The method is applicable for the detection and enumeration of Listeria monocytogenes and for the detection of other Listeria species in a broad range of food and environmental samples.
The NordVal International certificate for ‘RAPID’Staph’ from Bio-Rad Laboratories was renewed 01 May 2022. The method is applicable for enumeration of coagulase-positive staphylococci
(Staphylococcus aureus and other species) in a broad range of foods.
The NordVal International certificate for ‘BAX® System PCR Assay for Salmonella (Classic + Q7 instruments)’ from Thermo Fisher Scientific (OXOID Limited) was renewed 01 May 2022. The method is applicable for the detection of Salmonella spp. in a broad range of foods, animal feed and environmental samples.

NordVal International Certificate issued to BIOTECON Diagnostics GmbH for for 054 “foodproof® Listeria plus L. monocytogenes Detection LyoKit – 5’Nuclease” was updated Jan 2022 to include LOD50 for different matrices.
